ITTF World Hopes Week
The ITTF World Hopes Week took place in the Werner Schlager Academy between 20th and 26th June.
About 90 players (born between 1999 and 2001) from 32 nations took part in a week’s training session on 32 tables under the supervision of the WSA Head Coaches, Dirk Wagner and Mario Amizic.
In addition, several top Butterfly players came along to train with the kids, including former World and European Champion, Werner Schlager, who gave them a lesson in service and return of service. Furthermore, Croatia?s former World Number 2, Tamara Boros, and Denmark’s European Champion, Michael Maze, together with Hungary?s world class player, Krisztina Toth also came to the WSA. The kids took the opportunity to stock up on autographs of their idols as well as having their photograph taken with them.
An unforgettable week ended with a tournament on Saturday and Sunday. The winners came from Hong Kong. In the boy?s event, 10 year old Wong Ho Chin dominated the final against Rumania?s Christi Pletea, winning 3:0. The girl?s competition was won by 12 year old Leung Tsz Ching.
